The downside is the price. At ~$550, it's triple the cost of the LEVOIT. I've measured both, and the Air Oasis doesn't clean the air three times better. It's marginally better, and it has a better pre-filter system.

The competition

The KNKA APH4000 advertises huge coverage, but I measured the seal and it wasn't great. There was a gap around the filter, and that's a fancy fan, not a purifier.
The Aurora AR100W is cheap, but the CADR drops off a cliff in anything bigger than a closet. Don't go down that road.
The fancy Dyson units that cost hundreds of dollars? Not happening. I mean, puh-leeze. I've measured them. They're not bad, but they're not worth three times the price of a LEVOIT. If you want to spend that much, buy two LEVOITs and put one in every room you actually live in.
The morning test
The proof is in the morning. If you wake up without congestion after a week, the machine's working. If you don't, it's not, no matter what the specs say. I've seen the Texas transplant who woke up with no congestion for the first time in months, and the dog mom in a camper who just wanted the yeasty stink to back off a little.
A purifier is a tool, not a cure-all. You need to stack it with regular cleaning, washing bedding, and opening windows when you can.
